Head of Finance & Operations (Uganda)

About the role

Educate! is seeking a senior finance and operations leader to own and scale the country’s financial, operational and compliance functions in Uganda. You will partner with senior leadership to ensure financial integrity, efficient procurement, and effective risk management while driving impact for youth programs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end financial management, including transaction processing, payroll, cash and bank management, month‑end close, and production of accurate management accounts with variance analysis.
• Oversee operations, procurement and field logistics to ensure competitive, compliant purchasing and timely delivery of program resources.
• Maintain internal controls, lead external and donor audits, ensure statutory compliance, and manage the country risk register.
• Provide coaching and performance management for finance, operations and procurement managers, building capability and depth across the team.

Required profile

• 5+ years progressive finance and procurement experience, with at least 3 years managing people.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) or comparable experience.
• Proven ownership of the full finance cycle, donor‑funded multi‑currency operations and external audit processes.
• Experience in operations, procurement or supply‑chain management and strong systems orientation.
