Head of Guarding (HOG)

About the role

The Head of Guarding (HOG) leads GardaWorld’s Guarding Business Unit in Uganda, overseeing all commercial and operational activities to deliver high‑quality security services to internal and external customers. Reporting to the Head of Security Operations, the role ensures customer satisfaction, drives organic growth and maintains financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and manage the Guarding unit commercially and operationally to maximise profitability and service quality.
• Develop budgets, strategies and revenue growth plans; monitor implementation and performance.
• Design and maintain organisational structures, systems and processes for efficient resource deployment.
• Control sub‑contractor accreditation, quality, cost and performance.
• Maintain Tier‑1 client relationships, provide regular updates and lead high‑profile incident management.
• Provide leadership to Operations Managers, Contract Managers and branch teams; oversee staff capacity and development.
• Produce internal and external performance reports and support management reporting to the Managing Director.
• Facilitate internal audits, implement action plans and ensure compliance with BMS and GWI standards.
• Mobilise new contracts, understand pricing mechanisms and ensure operational KPIs are met.
• Support logistical needs of guarding projects and contribute to performance reviews.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in security or guarding operations.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of budget and revenue management.
• Excellent client‑facing skills and ability to manage high‑visibility incidents.
• Experience in managing subcontractors and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Ability to develop talent, assess capability gaps and design training programmes.
• Solid reporting and analytical skills for internal and external performance metrics.
