Head of Projects – East Africa

About the role

The Head of Projects will provide strategic leadership for infrastructure development and capital project delivery across the East Africa region. Reporting to the CEO – East Africa, the role ensures hospital construction, expansion and renovation projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and commissioning of hospital construction, expansion and renovation projects.
• Drive implementation of strategic infrastructure initiatives that support operational excellence and long‑term growth.
• Manage relationships with contractors, consultants and external partners to ensure quality, compliance and efficient execution.
• Ensure projects meet Group standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with clinical, engineering and operational teams to minimise disruption to healthcare services.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, identifying opportunities for efficiency, sustainability and value creation.
• Provide leadership across project teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a related field.
• PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with leadership exposure.
• Proven experience in healthcare or complex infrastructure environments.
• Strong project execution and stakeholder management capabilities.
