Health Manager

About the role

The Health Manager will lead the implementation of the International Rescue Committee's Ebola response activities in West Nile, Uganda. Reporting to the Health Coordinator, the role ensures high‑quality emergency health programming that aligns with Ministry of Health guidelines, WHO standards, and donor requirements while working closely with government, UN agencies and humanitarian partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Ebola emergency response activities across supported districts.
• Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health protocols, IRC standards and donor expectations.
• Provide technical, operational and programmatic leadership for case management, infection prevention and control, surveillance, risk communication and community engagement, and continuity of essential health services.
• Collaborate with district authorities, Ebola response structures, humanitarian partners and IRC support departments.
• Travel frequently to outbreak‑affected districts and other response locations as required.
• Monitor program performance, produce reports and support staff supervision.

Required profile

• Degree in public health, medicine, nursing or a related field.
• Proven experience in emergency health response, preferably with Ebola or other outbreak settings.
• Demonstrated leadership in health program management within humanitarian contexts.
• Strong coordination and communication abilities.
• Fluency in English and willingness to travel extensively.
