Housekeeping Aide – Part‑Time

About the role

The Housekeeping Aide supports the Environmental Services Manager by cleaning and sanitising resident apartments and common areas in a healthcare setting. This part‑time position focuses on maintaining a safe, clean environment for residents, families and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Clean resident apartments and common areas according to assigned schedules, using appropriate cleaning and sanitation methods.
• Operate floor‑care machines, steam cleaning equipment, and perform carpet stripping, scrubbing, spraying and buffing.
• Pick up and transport garbage to designated areas and ensure compliance with safety rules.
• Prepare required documentation, attend staff meetings and in‑service training, and participate in quality‑improvement programs.
• Uphold Extendicare’s values, code of conduct and respect resident rights.

Required profile

• Good oral and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet the physical demands of the role.
• Previous experience in commercial, residential or healthcare cleaning is desirable.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (within 6 months) required.
