Human Resource Manager

About the role

ShokayTech Uganda Limited, a retailer of mobile phones and apparel, is looking for a Human Resource Manager in Kampala. The manager oversees the HR function across the two business segments, with a focus on recruitment, talent acquisition, workforce planning and employee management, ensuring both units are adequately staffed, especially in sales and marketing.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end recruitment, develop recruitment strategies, source, screen and interview candidates, and maintain a talent pipeline; coordinate onboarding and induction.
• Work with department and business unit heads to identify staffing needs, plan for business expansion and monitor attendance and productivity.
• Develop HR policies and procedures, maintain employee records, oversee contracts and leave management, and ensure compliance with labour laws.
• Support performance management, appraisals, employee relations and training needs, and promote a positive workplace culture.
• Advise management strategically, align HR with business goals, prepare regular HR reports and help build a high-performing sales and marketing workforce.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology or a related field; professional HR certification is an advantage.
• At least 3-5 years of relevant HR experience, preferably in a retail or fast-paced commercial environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing full recruitment processes; experience recruiting sales and marketing professionals is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with labour laws and HR best practices.
• Experience in mobile phone retail, electronics distribution, apparel retail or fast-moving consumer goods is a strong advantage.
