Human Resource & Operations Manager

About the role

The Human Resource & Operations Manager will lead all HR functions across talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, compliance, learning & development, and payroll. You will partner with department heads to ensure the workforce is aligned with the company’s fast‑growing production schedule and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for production, sales, field operations and administration, building a pre‑qualified talent pipeline.
• Design and implement a performance appraisal system linked to corporate KPIs; coach managers on reviews and performance improvement plans.
• Act as first point of contact for employee grievances, disciplinary matters and conflict resolution, fostering an inclusive culture.
• Ensure compliance with Uganda’s Employment Act, NSSF, PAYE and Workers’ Compensation; maintain HR policies and the employee handbook.
• Conduct training needs assessments, coordinate internal and external learning programs, and report training ROI.
• Maintain accurate HR records, oversee monthly payroll in collaboration with Finance, and produce regular headcount and attrition reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or related field.
• 4–6 years progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, agribusiness or food production environments.
• Proven ability to manage HR for a workforce of 50+ employees, including field and production staff.
• Strong knowledge of Uganda’s labour legislation.
