Human Resources and Administration Officer

About the role

The Human Resources and Administration Officer provides HR, administrative and logistical support to Save the Children’s Country Office in Kampala and the field office in Adjumani. Working closely with the HR Coordinator, the role assists staff and line managers across recruitment, employee relations, benefits, payroll and learning and development. The officer must be ready to adapt working hours during humanitarian emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the mainstream recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks and planning for new hires.
• Manage interview processes and recruit volunteers for the country office.
• Support placement, onboarding and induction of new hires, ensuring timely completion of documentation.
• Track performance reviews in liaison with the HR focal person to ensure compliance.
• Provide administrative support to field teams and contribute to the effective functioning of the HR team.
• Ensure staff enrollment in medical, Group Personal Insurance (GPA) and Group Life Assurance (GLA) schemes.
• Coordinate trauma and medical support services for staff in case of accidents or incidents.
• Promote health, safety and self‑care awareness among individuals and groups.
• Process administrative requests for staff social events such as weddings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR and administration within an international or humanitarian setting.
• Ability to provide advisory and operational support to staff and line managers.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours during emergencies.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
