Internal Auditor

About the role

We are looking for a proactive, detail‑oriented Internal Auditor to join Watu Credit in Kampala. The role will focus on strengthening internal controls, identifying risks and driving operational excellence across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and report on audit engagements in line with the board‑approved risk‑based audit plan.
• Identify control weaknesses, recommend risk‑aversion measures and track corrective actions.
• Perform detailed testing of financial, operational, compliance and IT controls.
• Support enterprise‑wide risk management and provide advisory services to improve processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA intermediate candidate preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in internal audit or related auditing environment.
• Professional certifications such as CIA or CISA are a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Risk assessment and risk management.
• Audit planning and execution.
• Knowledge of legal, financial and regulatory frameworks.
• Internal controls evaluation.
• Proficiency with Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
