Language Specialist Annotator

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Language Specialist to support the development of advanced AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems. In this remote position you will apply your linguistic expertise to annotate, review, and validate language data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and cultural relevance.

Key responsibilities

• Annotate and review text, speech, or conversational datasets according to project guidelines.
• Label data for parts of speech, sentiment, intent, syntax, and other linguistic features.
• Ensure cultural and contextual appropriateness of annotated data.
• Develop and refine annotation guidelines.
• Conduct quality‑assurance checks and inter‑annotator agreement assessments.
• Provide feedback to improve workflows and annotation standards.
• Support multilingual or domain‑specific annotation projects when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Languages, or a related field.
• Native or near‑native proficiency in the target language(s).
• Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, and language structure.
• Experience in linguistic annotation or data‑labeling projects.
• Familiarity with NLP concepts and AI workflows.
• Multilingual capabilities are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with annotation tools such as Label Studio, Prodigy, and ELAN.
