Lead Fire Alarm Dispatcher

Job description
Key responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor and provide daily oversight of fire alarm dispatch personnel.
- Ensure dispatch staff are trained and operate according to departmental policies and SOPs.
- Promote a professional, collaborative and customer‑focused work environment.
- Evaluate dispatcher performance, provide coaching and recommend training opportunities.
- Assist with scheduling, staffing and workload distribution to maintain continuous emergency communications coverage.
- Monitor fire, medical and emergency detection systems for alarm activations.
- Receive, prioritize and dispatch fire, rescue, emergency medical and other response resources.
- Dispatch emergency units accurately and within established response time standards.
- Maintain continuous communication with responding units and provide critical incident updates.
- Coordinate communications with military, government and mutual‑aid agencies during incidents.
- Ensure dispatch center operations comply with policies, emergency communication standards and regulations.
- Monitor dispatch activities for accuracy, efficiency and operational readiness.
- Maintain detailed records of emergency calls, alarm activations, dispatched resources and incident documentation.
- Review, update and recommend improvements to dispatch procedures and SOPs.
- Monitor communications and alarm monitoring equipment, report malfunctions and ensure operational readiness.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three years experience as a lead dispatcher or emergency communications professional in a fire department or emergency response organization.
- Certification as Telecommunications Operator I and II and Hazardous Materials Awareness, or equivalent recognized certifications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fire service operations, emergency medical dispatch and fire alarm monitoring systems.
- Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout deployment.

- Operation of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
