Lead Pre‑Academy Coach

About the role

The Lead Pre‑Academy Coach will head the recruitment, development and coaching of young players in the Pre‑Academy, preparing them for progression into the Foundation Phase. Reporting to the Head of Academy, you will ensure the programme follows the Swansea City Academy Curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the Pre‑Academy coaching programme and lead the U8 development group.
• Work with the Head of Academy to recruit top young talent and manage the transition to the U9 Academy team.
• Deliver sessions in line with the Swansea City Academy Curriculum and coordinate with the Lead Foundation Phase Coach.
• Develop and up‑skill Pre‑Academy coaches through in‑house training and CPD opportunities.
• Monitor player progress, provide feedback and maintain strong relationships with grassroots clubs.
• Manage coaching staff, ensure clear communication and uphold safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of coaching experience, including recruitment processes.
• Experience working with parents and young players in a high‑pressure environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills.
• Proactive, innovative mindset with a strong team ethos.
