Loans Officer

About the role

Stonepillar Finance Uganda Limited is seeking a full‑time Loans Officer to join its Kampala office. You will be the primary point of contact for prospective borrowers, guiding them through the loan application process and ensuring a smooth experience from origination to repayment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and engage prospective clients, explain loan products and eligibility criteria.
• Collect, verify and assess documentation for loan applications.
• Conduct credit, affordability and risk assessments, preparing files for underwriting.
• Manage an assigned portfolio of borrowers, monitor loan performance and follow up on repayments.
• Provide responsive customer service throughout the loan lifecycle.
• Collaborate with finance and underwriting teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Professional experience in loan officer or similar credit‑related roles.
• Solid understanding of finance principles, financial analysis and basic accounting.
• Proven ability to evaluate creditworthiness, risk and repayment capacity.
• Relevant academic background – diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Familiarity with the Ugandan financial market and lending environment is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer applications and loan management systems.
