Master HVAC Technician – Facility Maintenance

About the role

The Master HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems in municipal buildings. Working under the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the role ensures all building services operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on HVAC equipment, plumbing fixtures, and related building systems.
• Read and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to install, adjust, and replace components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot faults.
• Cut, bend, thread, and install electrical conduit, pipe, and ductwork using specialized tools.
• Replace filters, adjust controls, assemble switches, and service circuit‑breaker panels.
• Collaborate with carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, and masons on multi‑disciplinary maintenance projects.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on completed work to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
• Ensure all activities comply with city, county, and state building codes and safety regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in HVAC or related trades preferred.
• Proven experience in HVAC maintenance, plumbing, and basic electrical work.
• Ability to read technical schematics and follow safety procedures.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
