Nutrition Expert / Officer

About the role

The Nutrition Expert/Officer will integrate nutrition outcomes into agricultural and food‑security activities in the Nakivale and Kyangwali settlements. The role focuses on promoting nutrient‑dense crops, kitchen gardens, dietary diversity, and behavior‑change education for vulnerable households.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the integration of nutrition‑sensitive agriculture into crop, livestock and household resilience programmes.
• Support the promotion of nutrient‑dense crops, kitchen gardens and diversified food production.
• Design and supervise nutrition education sessions and cooking demonstrations.
• Collaborate with field teams, community‑based groups, women’s groups, caregivers and local structures to promote dietary diversity.
• Link eligible caregivers and households with appropriate health and nutrition services.
• Ensure nutrition messaging is culturally appropriate and aligned with local food systems.
• Track participation in nutrition training, cooking demonstrations, garden establishment and dietary‑diversity outcomes.
• Contribute to success stories, behavior‑change documentation and nutrition‑sensitive agriculture reports.

Required profile

• Degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Agriculture, Public Health Nutrition, Home Economics, Community Development or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in nutrition‑sensitive agriculture, food security, community nutrition or behavior‑change communication.
• Experience working with women, caregivers, children under five and vulnerable households.
• Preferred experience in refugee settlements or humanitarian‑development programming.
