Office Driver – Transport Staff & Visitors

About the role

The Office Driver is responsible for safely transporting FHI 360 staff, consultants, visitors and official materials to designated locations across Uganda. The role includes vehicle maintenance coordination, record keeping and occasional protection duties in high‑risk areas.

Key responsibilities

• Transport staff, consultants and visitors to approved locations while ensuring compliance with road safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage, fuel records and trip authorizations.
• Conduct daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, report defects, accidents or security concerns promptly.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the Fleet/Logistics team.
• Monitor fuel consumption, insurance, registration and other statutory requirements.
• Assist with loading, securing and delivering supplies, equipment and documents.
• Plan routes based on schedules or ad‑hoc requests and fulfill special errands.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/UACE.
• Minimum 5 years experience driving a project vehicle, preferably donor‑funded.
• Defensive driving certificate, valid driving licence and clean driving record.
• Ability to work long hours, sit and stand for extended periods and lift up to 5 lbs.

Required skills

• Defensive driving techniques and vehicle inspection.
• Proficiency with PC/Laptop and Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams.
