Operations Manager - Broilers

About the role

The Operations Manager - Broilers is responsible for the entire broiler operations section of the company, including future sites. The role reports to the Agriculture Director and supervises the Senior Poultry Managers directly, while working with internal employees and external out-growers.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically direct, manage and transition the broiler division, plan and execute its business activities and meet KPIs against the strategic plan.
• Review and revise breeder SOPs, implement them in line with food safety requirements, and work with the Quality Assurance team on a usable QA programme.
• Maintain poultry facilities and equipment in good working order and drive best practice and world-class standards.
• Develop daily, weekly and monthly reports giving the Agriculture Director visibility of broiler operations.
• Identify staff training and mentoring needs, and develop, train and recruit local breeder farm managers.
• Engage new contract growers and ensure existing growers are trained, developed and monitored.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture (animal production specialization), Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Animal Production or a closely related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• 7-10+ years in a senior management position covering multiple sites, large teams or several production functions.
• Extensive commercial poultry experience (mandatory).
• Experience leading a large staff complement.

• Microsoft Office suite.
• High integrity, strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills, and ability to transfer knowledge.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.

Success is measured by 7-day mortality below 1%, FCR below 1.85, PEF above 280, average live weight of 1.75 kg and 100% compliance with biosecurity SOPs. The role also expects the High Performance Behaviors listed in the original posting.
