Primary Care Physician (Flexible Schedule)

About the role

Roots Community Health Centre is seeking compassionate Primary Care Physicians to join a culturally safe, interdisciplinary team serving vulnerable newcomers, including refugees, in Kamwokya, Uganda. The role offers flexible scheduling, allowing physicians to work half‑days every two weeks up to multiple days per week, either onsite or via virtual visits from home.

Key responsibilities

• Provide person‑centered, longitudinal primary care to marginalized patients.
• Conduct in‑person consultations and remote telehealth appointments.
• Collaborate with allied health professionals, medical directors, and the executive director to ensure comprehensive care.
• Utilize the Intrahealth EMR system (Profile) for documentation and care coordination.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a culturally safe care environment.

Required profile

• Medical degree and active physician licensure.
• Interest in serving refugees and other vulnerable populations.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to both onsite and remote formats.
• Basic knowledge of Arabic, Persian, Urdu or Spanish is a plus, though translation support is provided.
