Primary Teacher – Upper & Lower Grades

About the role

The YIDA Youth Initiative is seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join its team in the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, Kyegegwa District. The role involves delivering the Uganda Primary School Curriculum to both upper and lower primary learners, fostering an inclusive and safe learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum, adapting methods to diverse learner abilities.
• Assess student progress regularly, record performance, and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain classroom discipline and manage resources to create a conducive learning atmosphere.
• Implement YIDA’s child protection and safeguarding policies, reporting any concerns promptly.
• Engage with parents and the community through meetings, updates, and school events.
• Participate in professional development sessions and collaborative school activities.

Required profile

• Entry‑level qualification with at least 24 months of teaching experience.
• Familiarity with the Uganda Primary School Curriculum.
• Commitment to inclusive education and child safeguarding.
• Ability to work full‑time (8 hours per day) in a refugee‑settlement context.
