Procurement Officer – STRIDES Project (Uganda)

About the role

The Procurement Officer will support the STRIDES project in Uganda, working closely with the Procurement Manager to ensure efficient coordination of procurement activities. This role involves managing day‑to‑day operations, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with FHI 360 and donor procurement policies.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain FHI 360 Uganda Country Office procurement policies and procedures.
• Manage procurement processes and inventory for office supplies, equipment, medical items, and pharmaceuticals.
• Coordinate with finance, administration, and program teams to ensure integrated internal controls and timely vendor payments.
• Develop and implement logistics plans, budgets, and procedures in line with project needs.
• Maintain ethical relationships with suppliers and communicate order and delivery status to requesting staff.
• Support financial reporting, inventory reconciliation, and procurement tracking for the STRIDES project.
• Maintain up‑to‑date supplier information and monitor local market conditions.
• Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Comprehensive knowledge of procurement and logistics standards and practices.
• Working knowledge of company policies regarding budgets and contracts.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to influence, motivate, and negotiate to meet compliance and organizational goals.
• Supervisory skills.
