Protection Officer – Community Based

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Protection Officer to lead community‑based protection activities. The role focuses on monitoring protection concerns, managing cases, and supporting persons of specific needs among forcibly displaced and stateless populations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement protection monitoring, case management and follow‑up processes.
• Supervise Protection Assistants to ensure timely and quality delivery of services.
• Operate Information and Support Centers (ISCs) and facilitate referrals to appropriate services.
• Identify and support Persons of Specific Needs (PSNs) and document best practices.
• Collaborate with senior protection staff, M&E officers, and other humanitarian actors to align activities with project plans and quality standards.
• Contribute to proposal development, mitigation strategies, and awareness‑raising campaigns.

Required profile

• Experience working in protection, humanitarian, or related fields with displaced or stateless populations.
• Ability to supervise field staff and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, respecting confidentiality principles.
• Knowledge of protection standards, case management procedures, and referral mechanisms.
