Senior Backend Engineer – Data Infrastructure

About the role

Curely AI is building a real‑time data infrastructure that powers its AI platform for life‑critical clinical decisions. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design and operate high‑throughput pipelines and streaming systems that ingest billions of clinical events.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own high‑throughput data ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured clinical data.
• Build and maintain real‑time streaming infrastructure using Kafka, Flink, or similar technologies.
• Develop HL7/FHIR connectors and EHR integration adapters for major health‑system platforms.
• Ensure data quality, observability, and reliability across all ingestion pipelines.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to create feature stores and training data pipelines.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and incident reviews to promote operational excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience focused on data systems.
• Deep expertise in distributed stream processing (Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming).
• Strong proficiency in Go, Java, or Python for high‑performance services.
• Experience designing and operating large‑scale databases such as PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or BigQuery.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, schema evolution, and change‑data‑capture patterns.
