Senior Design Researcher - User Science

About the role

This Senior Design Researcher role sits in the design team reporting to the User Science Manager. It is based remotely in the EMEA region, with the listing showing Kampala, Uganda as the location. The role covers conducting user research, sharing findings clearly, promoting a data-informed culture, building research scalability and fostering a learning culture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct user research by developing user insights in diverse formats and championing user needs across product areas.
• Share findings concisely with well-matched research presentations and clear documentation systems, supporting different teams.
• Work with process, product and engineering teams to integrate user research into existing decision-making flows.
• Own research operations infrastructure, making key methodologies more accessible, actionable and repeatable.
• Contribute to the definition of User Science through user-centered training, resource development and outreach.

Required profile

• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university; a Bachelor's or Master's in a related field such as Design, Human-Computer Interaction or Engineering, or a compelling alternative path.
• Strong technical curiosity, aligned with open-source culture and able to engage deeply with technical subjects and stakeholders.
• A robust portfolio of user research and/or design projects showing how insights influenced product design, strategy or organizational change.

Required skills

• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative user research methods, including user interviews, usability testing, A/B testing, surveys and data analysis.
• Exceptional depth in either qualitative or quantitative skills.
• Proficiency in visual design and/or information design, translating complex data into clear visuals.
• Talent for storytelling and collaboration, and meticulous organization and archiving skills.
