Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide full‑range engineering, construction quality assurance and technical oversight for a 24‑month building project in Kampala, Uganda. The role ensures that all mechanical and plumbing works are executed to design specifications and U.S. standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical inspections of mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fire‑protection and related systems during construction and commissioning.
• Monitor and evaluate the contractor’s quality‑control and safety programs.
• Review project drawings, specifications, shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design parameters.
• Observe onsite work, verify proper installation of equipment such as boilers, valves, pumps, chillers, air‑handling units and drainage systems.
• Prepare weekly progress reports, identify non‑conformities and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve design conflicts.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited university.
• Extensive experience in large‑scale building construction, specifically mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Proven ability to work to U.S. engineering standards and to manage on‑site construction activities.
