Senior Project Officer - Communications

About the role

The Senior Project Officer – Communications leads the creation and production of high‑quality, audience‑focused communications materials that showcase the impact and lessons learned from CRS Uganda’s programmes. Working closely with project teams, local partners and participants, the role packages insights for donors and stakeholders to advance CRS’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Capture high‑quality photography, videography, interviews and testimonials from the field.
• Collaborate with project teams and partners to maintain a pipeline of human‑interest stories and multimedia assets.
• Write, design and produce visibility materials such as fact sheets, brochures, presentations and donor‑facing marketing collateral.
• Create tailored multimedia content for CRS global social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram).
• Ensure all materials adhere to CRS graphic identity and donor branding requirements.
• Provide communications support for events, including signage, handouts and event media capture.
• Develop simple content‑collection tools and provide basic training to staff and partners on field storytelling.
• Manage relationships with local and national media to elevate programme visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of marketing and communications experience, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian context.
• Strong written and spoken English; proficiency in Luganda and other local languages is highly desired.
• Ability to influence without direct authority and work effectively with diverse staff and partners.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with desktop publishing tools.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) or Canva for graphic design, photo editing and basic video production.
