Sewing Machine Operator (Tailoring)

About the role

Akram Tailor is looking for a full‑time Sewing Machine Operator to work on‑site at its Kawaala Central location. The successful candidate will operate sewing machines to stitch, alter and repair garments according to customer measurements and design specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate industrial and domestic sewing machines, handling threading, tension adjustment and routine maintenance.
• Cut fabric, assemble garment pieces, perform fittings and make adjustments to ensure proper fit and finish.
• Carry out alterations and repairs such as resizing, replacing zippers or buttons, and adjusting seams.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure sewing equipment is in good condition.
• Collaborate with other tailoring staff, follow work orders and meet agreed deadlines.

Required profile

• Proficiency in operating sewing machines and basic maintenance.
• Strong garment construction skills, including cutting, stitching, hemming and finishing.
• Ability to take accurate body measurements and translate them into pattern adjustments.
• Attention to detail, good time‑management and the ability to handle multiple orders.
• Clear communication and a professional, respectful attitude toward colleagues and customers.
