Electrical Engineer – Sustainable Energy for Health Facilities

About the role

University Research Co., LLC (URC) is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design, installation, and commissioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for Uganda’s health facilities under the Powering Health System Performance project. The role will provide client‑side technical oversight, ensuring sustainable energy solutions that improve reliability of essential health services.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design, and supervise the installation of solar PV systems in priority health facilities.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, and handover of completed installations.
• Implement remote monitoring and asset‑management tools to track system performance.
• Provide training to local staff on operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with government partners to strengthen capacity for long‑term energy management.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in solar PV system design and implementation.
• Familiarity with health‑sector infrastructure and government procurement processes.
• Ability to work full‑time on‑site in Kampala and travel to project sites.
