Heavy Truck Driver – Earth Moving Equipment Operator

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Heavy Truck Driver to operate a range of earth‑moving equipment in support of a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves safe operation, maintenance and coordination of heavy machinery while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate earth‑moving equipment such as motor grader, front‑end loader, backhoe, excavator, vibratory roller, water truck, ditch witch trencher and bobcat skidsteer/tracksteer.
• Perform daily safety checks, inspections and operator‑level maintenance.
• Interact with customers to move materials and equipment as required.
• Complete documentation, reporting and limited office duties related to equipment use.
• Adhere to safety regulations, contract requirements and company policies.

Required profile

• Minimum three (3) years of experience operating earth‑moving equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; equipment operator training and certification (e.g., NCCER) preferred.
• Valid driver’s licence and passport valid for at least one year.
• Ability to read, speak and comprehend English for contract performance and emergency procedures.
• Capability to obtain required visas and pass contract medical requirements.

Required skills

• Operation of motor grader, front‑end loader, backhoe, excavator, vibratory roller, water truck, ditch witch trencher and bobcat skidsteer/tracksteer.
• Equipment maintenance and safety inspections.
• Interpretation of equipment load charts and coordination of earth movement.
