Livestock Officer – Climate‑Smart Agriculture

About the role

World Vision Uganda is looking for a Livestock Officer to lead climate‑smart livestock interventions in refugee and host communities in the northern districts of Adjumani and Lamwo. The role focuses on improving livestock productivity, animal health and household resilience through sustainable practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of climate‑smart livestock production and management interventions across project areas.
• Support farmers in improving feeding, breeding, housing and welfare of livestock.
• Promote adoption of improved and climate‑resilient livestock breeds and technologies.
• Facilitate establishment of fodder production, pasture development and feed conservation.
• Coordinate livestock disease surveillance, vaccination, deworming and treatment campaigns with veterinary authorities.
• Train community animal health workers and farmers on basic animal health, biosecurity and disease prevention.
• Assist households in developing livestock‑based livelihood activities to increase income and food security.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in livestock production, animal health or agricultural development, preferably in humanitarian or refugee settings.
• Ability to work closely with farmers, community animal health workers and local authorities.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with a focus on capacity building.
• Willingness to travel and work in field locations in Adjumani and Lamwo.
