Senior Specialist - Cyber Crime

About the role

The Senior Specialist – Cyber Crime will lead internal investigations, analysing physical and digital evidence to uncover fraud and cyber‑security incidents. Working within MTN Group’s Uganda operations, the role ensures evidence integrity and provides actionable recommendations to protect the business.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, preserve and store digital evidence in accordance with forensic standards.
• Conduct forensic analysis using specialised tools to interpret data and identify breaches.
• Respond to security incidents, detect threats and support remediation efforts.
• Prepare detailed forensic reports and, when required, deliver expert testimony.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, legal teams and internal stakeholders throughout investigations.
• Perform data‑driven fraud detection, analysing financial records, transaction histories and system logs.
• Interview employees, management and third parties to gather supporting evidence.
• Continuously assess MTN’s cloud architecture, applications and APIs for exploitable vulnerabilities.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 36 months of experience in digital forensics or cyber‑crime investigations.
• Familiarity with professional standards such as ACFE and relevant legislation.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to synthesize investigation findings into recommendations.

Required skills

• SQL scripting for data extraction and analysis.
• ACL data‑analytics tool.
• Forensic analysis software (e.g., EnCase, FTK or equivalent).
• Data‑analytics and investigative techniques.
