Synchrolift Mechanic / Rigger / Diver

About the role

Amentum is seeking a skilled Synchrolift Mechanic, Rigger, and Diver to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves underwater surveys, equipment recovery, hyperbaric chamber operation, and maintenance of dive‑locker assets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing underwater surveys and mission recovery operations.
• Operate and tend the hyperbaric chamber for medical treatments.
• Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance and repairs on dive‑locker equipment.
• Conduct work in underwater vessels and confined spaces, ensuring proper PPE use.
• Operate dive‑locker vessels as required based on training.
• Repair and maintain local buoys and moorings.
• Use hand tools, drills, torches, and welding equipment for vessel repairs.
• Work independently with mature judgment and collaborate safely with team members.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of commercial diving experience (preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a U.S. certified commercial diving or U.S. military diving school.
• Ability to pass a diving physical per OSHA Commercial Diving Regulations or U.S. Coast Guard Regulations.
• Valid driver’s license with a suitable driving record.
• Fluent in English for reading, speaking, and comprehension.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas.
• Capability to meet contract medical requirements throughout deployment.
