Fire Crew Chief

About the role

The Fire Crew Chief leads a dedicated team to deliver high‑quality resource protection and fire‑fighting support for structural, aircraft and other hazardous operations. This position ensures compliance with Department of Defense (DoD), contract and NFPA standards while safeguarding lives and property.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the lead crew member on site, directing fire‑suppression, rescue and prevention activities.
• Maintain operational readiness of personnel, vehicles and equipment.
• Control fire attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue operations.
• Assess and document emergency scene conditions and report to supervisors.
• Oversee care and maintenance of fire‑fighting equipment, station and grounds.
• Resolve minor administrative and personnel issues; escalate major matters.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of experience in fire services.
• Associate’s degree in fire science management, emergency management, public administration or related field preferred.
• DoD, IFSAC or National Pro‑Board certifications (Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Operations, Airport Fire Fighter where applicable).
• Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certification.
• First Responder and CPR qualifications.
• Ability to work in remote, uncomfortable, and adverse weather conditions with potential short‑notice travel.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
