Accountant – Financial Accounting & Reporting

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Accountant to join Twyford Impex Uganda, a regional arm of Twyford International that supplies ceramic tiles and sanitary ware across East Africa. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting cost optimisation, and ensuring compliance with Ugandan tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger, journals, and supporting schedules; prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Perform bank, inventory and account reconciliations to guarantee accuracy.
• Manage supplier payments, invoice processing, expense verification and monitor accounts receivable to sustain healthy cash flow.
• Track production costs, analyse raw material, labour and overhead expenses; coordinate inventory valuation with warehouse and production teams.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, withholding tax and corporate tax; prepare and file statutory returns on time.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, providing insights for management decisions.
• Maintain and improve internal control systems; support internal and external audits with required documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
• Professional certification such as CPA (Uganda) or ACCA is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost structures and inventory accounting.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis.
• Financial analysis and reporting capabilities.
