Air Cargo / Freight Supervisor

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Air Cargo / Freight Supervisor to manage daily air cargo and freight operations for a U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safe, secure, and compliant movement of all cargo in a high‑tempo, remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise cargo handling, coordinate aircraft loading and unloading, and enforce safety, security, and documentation standards.
• Lead air cargo personnel, assign tasks, monitor workflow, and optimise use of manpower and equipment.
• Review cargo manifests, verify shipping documentation, and handle priority, hazardous, oversized, or classified cargo per procedures.
• Conduct on‑the‑job training, support inspections and audits, and coordinate with aircrew, logistics teams, and transportation partners.
• Maintain operational readiness, resolve issues affecting cargo flow, and support mission‑critical airlift operations.
• Perform additional duties consistent with the position’s level and nature.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in air cargo, freight operations, logistics, or transportation support.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven ability to lead or supervise personnel in an operational setting.
• Physical capability to lift, operate equipment, and work outdoors.
• Valid passport (minimum one year beyond hire date) and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain them throughout deployment.
• Fluent reading, speaking, and comprehension of English for contract performance and emergency procedures.
