About the role

The Department of Commercial Law at Makerere University is seeking an Assistant Lecturer to join its teaching and research team. This full‑time position involves delivering lectures, supervising student research, and contributing to the department’s academic and outreach activities.

Key responsibilities

Teach, examine and grade undergraduate and postgraduate law students.
Supervise and mentor student research projects.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior academic staff.
Conduct research and engage in community outreach initiatives related to commercial law.
Prepare and submit funding proposals to support departmental activities.
Perform any additional duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

Master of Laws (LL.M) in Corporate and Commercial Law, Taxation Law, Intellectual Property, International Economic Law, or International Commercial Arbitration from a recognized university.
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Honours degree from a recognized university.
Post‑Graduate Diploma from the Law Development Centre.
