Bicycle Mechanic

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Bicycle Mechanic to support a US Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program on Diego Garcia. The role involves assembling, repairing and maintaining government‑owned and customer‑owned bicycles to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble new bicycles and install replacement parts according to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and adjustments on rental bicycles.
• Maintain a detailed repair log and provide bi‑monthly updates for government review.
• Provide on‑site repair and assembly support during MWR‑sponsored bike races.
• Keep the bike shop clean, organized and stocked with functional tools and equipment.
• Interact with customers to address service requests, inquiries and concerns.
• Identify, order and manage inventory of replacement parts and supplies.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience as a bicycle mechanic or in bicycle assembly/repair.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to keep accurate service records.
• Strong mechanical problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
