Chief Executive Officer

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer leads the Uganda Marketers Society, overseeing day‑to‑day operations, translating Board‑approved strategy into measurable results, and ensuring financial sustainability, member value, risk management and organisational reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a costed annual work plan, operating budget and management scorecard aligned with Board strategy.
• Monitor performance against targets, taking corrective action when needed.
• Provide evidence‑based advice to the Board for strategic reviews and decision‑making.
• Maintain an integrated dashboard covering strategy, finance, membership, programmes, partnerships, people, risk and Board actions.
• Support the Board and its committees with agenda planning, paper preparation, minute taking and statutory compliance.
• Ensure adherence to the Constitution, Companies Act, governance policies and delegation frameworks.
• Lead membership growth, retention and value‑creation initiatives.
• Act as Company Secretary, delivering timely, accurate governance support.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 36 months of relevant senior management experience.
• Proven ability to translate strategy into operational plans and deliver results.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk management and financial sustainability.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
