Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About the role

Raising The Village is seeking a visionary Chief Operating Officer to lead its global operations from Kampala. The COO will align strategy with execution, scale operational systems, and ensure compliance across multiple countries.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for RTV’s global operations, ensuring strong alignment between strategy and execution.
• Build and manage operational systems required to scale programs, procurement, logistics and digital platforms across several African nations.
• Oversee operational compliance with donor requirements, internal policies and national regulations.
• Develop operational playbooks and replication frameworks to support expansion into new regions and partnerships.
• Strengthen coordination between programs, operations, finance and technology teams.
• Lead cyber‑security practices, data governance and risk‑management systems for digital infrastructure.
• Provide enterprise oversight of legal, regulatory and contract governance at the global level.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in international development, technology‑enabled programs or large non‑profit organizations.
• Graduate degree (MA/MSc preferred) in international development, business administration, public policy, technology management or related field.
• Deep experience with governance, compliance and risk management in multi‑country, donor‑funded environments.
• Proven track record scaling complex operations or platforms across Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Formal training or significant experience in financial management, project management and operational leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse global teams through ambiguity and rapid change.
