Cook for US Navy Program (Diego Garcia)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a dedicated Cook to support a unique United States Navy program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. The role involves preparing high‑quality meals for personnel, maintaining strict food safety standards, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and measure ingredients according to standard recipes and menu requirements.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to serve meals during scheduled dining periods.
• Maintain accurate food inventory records and report discrepancies.
• Store food products following safety standards and monitor proper temperatures.
• Rotate inventory using FIFO methods to preserve freshness and reduce waste.
• Replenish kitchen supplies, ingredients, and workstations for upcoming shifts.
• Clean and sanitize preparation areas, equipment, and workstations at shift end.
• Perform additional duties as assigned consistent with the position’s level.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years experience as a Cook in a commercial or restaurant setting.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow recipes and food production guidelines.
• Working knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain facility credentials.
• Proficiency in English sufficient for contract duties and emergency procedures.

Required skills

• ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection Manager certification (or ability to obtain).
• Food safety and sanitation practices.
• Inventory management and stock rotation.
• Recipe interpretation and meal preparation.
