Country Director – Uganda

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking an innovative and visionary Country Director to lead its Uganda operations. Based in Kampala, the Director will shape strategic direction, oversee a diverse portfolio, and ensure the organization’s impact on community resilience, climate adaptation, and economic security.

Key responsibilities

• Set and execute strategic priorities aligned with Mercy Corps’ three impact pillars.
• Manage and coordinate all programming across economic development, governance, conflict management, and humanitarian response.
• Oversee resource allocation, budgeting, and performance monitoring for a portfolio serving over 930,000 Ugandans.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion.
• Represent Mercy Corps with donors, government partners, and local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in international development or humanitarian NGOs.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex programs and multi‑million‑dollar budgets.
• Strong track record of building partnerships with government, donors, and community groups.
