Driver (Full-Time) – Hospital Transport

About the role

CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda is looking for an experienced driver to provide safe and reliable transport services for staff, patients, visitors and hospital goods. The role involves operating hospital vehicles, maintaining them, and supporting the hospital’s spiritual ministry activities.

Key responsibilities

• Transport goods, staff and authorized passengers in accordance with hospital policies and local traffic laws.
• Ensure punctual and safe travel for visitors, co‑workers and patients.
• Maintain daily vehicle logs, mileage records and report repairs to the supervisor.
• Perform regular vehicle inspections, basic maintenance checks (oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres) and arrange timely repairs.
• Keep vehicles clean, tidy and securely parked when not in use.
• Participate in hospital spiritual ministry programs, chapel services and departmental bible studies.
• Attend department and general staff meetings as scheduled.
• Follow health and safety policies, use personal protective equipment and report hazards.

Required profile

• Uganda Certificate of Education with a pass in English.
• Valid driving permit (C1, C, D1, D) and at least 3‑5 years of clean driving record in an NGO or healthcare setting.
• Ability to think clearly in emergencies and work under pressure, including overnight duties.
• Good knowledge of current traffic rules and strong communication skills.
• Computer literate with basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to read road maps and follow directions.
