Engineering Assistant

About the role

The Engineering Assistant will work in the Office of the Deputy Director at the United Nations Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, providing technical supervision and project management for building and infrastructure works. The role reports to the Deputy Director and supports the delivery of maintenance, repair and installation projects across the centre.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate technical site problem resolution, installations, repairs and maintenance projects.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, bills of quantity and cost estimates for bidding packages.
• Manage project schedules, monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with UN codes, health and safety regulations.
• Conduct commissioning inspections, site visits and technical assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure.
• Liaise with stakeholders, procurement units and security teams to address project issues and ensure timely delivery.

Required profile

• High school diploma; technical/vocational diploma or certificate in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in facilities or building management, engineering or architecture (5 years if holding a university degree).
• Proficiency in English (UN Level II) and ability to work in a multicultural UN environment.
• Knowledge of construction rules, engineering standards and structural design analysis.
