Finance Specialist (Readvertised)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Uganda seeks a highly qualified Finance Specialist to strengthen financial management and ensure compliance with donor and statutory requirements. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will support accurate reporting, budget control, and cash‑flow monitoring across all programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to DRC’s Operations Handbook, donor regulations and local statutory rules.
• Collaborate with Area and Project Managers to develop, review and revise project budgets.
• Provide financial oversight, analyse variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and update monthly Budget Follow‑Up reports and lead review meetings.
• Validate payment requests, verify supporting documentation and ensure proper coding.
• Assist in cash‑flow forecasting, funding requests and monitor fund availability.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including reconciliations and accruals.
• Maintain and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts, resolving outstanding items promptly.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant finance experience, preferably in the NGO sector.
• Strong knowledge of donor compliance, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and external partners.
