Fire Alarm Dispatcher

About the role

The Fire Alarm Dispatcher monitors fire alarm systems and coordinates emergency response actions at the Kampala site. The role requires rapid decision‑making, clear communication with responders, and accurate documentation of all incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor fire alarm systems and respond promptly to activations following established emergency procedures.
• Receive, prioritize, and process emergency and non‑emergency calls, dispatching fire, rescue, medical, and other response personnel.
• Operate communications equipment, including radios, telephones, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, while maintaining continuous contact with responding units.
• Document calls for service, dispatched units, alarm activations, and incident details accurately and completely.
• Track alarm system maintenance, testing, and inspections to minimize downtime and report equipment malfunctions for corrective action.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as Telecommunications Operator I and II and Hazardous Materials Awareness, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 1‑3 years of experience in emergency dispatch, public safety communications, fire service communications, or a related field.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to obtain required visas and facility credentials.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating radios, telephones, Computer Aided Dispatch systems, and other emergency communications equipment.
• Excellent verbal communication and customer service abilities.
