About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Makerere University seeks a dedicated Lecturer to join its academic team. This full‑time position involves teaching, supervising research, and contributing to community outreach while supporting the department’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, examine and grade undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.
• Mentor junior academic staff.
• Conduct research and engage in community outreach activities.
• Write proposals to attract funding for departmental initiatives.
• Perform any other official duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related fields (Automation, Robotics, Production, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Chemical/Energy Engineering).
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
• Honours Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related areas such as Materials, Energy, Production, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, Automotive or Agricultural Engineering.
