Programme Scheduler

About the role

The Programme Scheduler will manage the daily transmission schedule for Nation Media Group’s television channels in Kampala. Working closely with the transmission team, the role ensures that programmes, promos and adverts are accurately scheduled, ingested and aired on time.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and submit the Daily Transmission Schedule (DTS) for all programmes, promos and adverts each day.
• Verify the day’s compilation with the transmission crew and ensure all scheduled content is previewed and uploaded with correct ingestion lists.
• Monitor live transmission to guarantee seamless on‑air delivery and address any overruns or technical issues.
• Analyse audience ratings and viewership trends to refine scheduling strategies.
• Ensure all content complies with broadcasting regulations and internal standards.
• Liaise with newsroom, marketing and commercial teams to align programming with promotional campaigns.
• Collaborate with the digital team to curate playlists and digital promotions.
• Communicate schedule changes to all stakeholders and maintain accurate metadata, time‑codes and program descriptions.
• Prepare contingency plans for live broadcast overruns, technical failures or last‑minute content changes.

Required profile

• Degree in Art, Film/Television, Broadcast Journalism or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in television programming or broadcasting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot scheduling issues.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast‑paced environment.
• Adaptability to evolving trends in linear and digital broadcasting.
