Recovery Officer

About the role

The Recovery Officer will secure timely repayments for non‑performing and written‑off loans by conducting daily field visits to delinquent customers. Working closely with branch staff and external bailiffs, the role aims to minimise losses while maintaining positive customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate loan recovery activities for active and written‑off loans across assigned branches.
• Negotiate payment plans, obtain promises to pay, and achieve recovery targets.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines during collection activities.
• Conduct periodic visits to customer securities and report on their condition.
• Identify delinquent accounts requiring legal action and coordinate with external debt collectors or court bailiffs.
• Provide formal written instructions to bailiffs and oversee the liquidation of collaterals.
• Maintain accurate records in the Field Collections Tool and reconcile recoveries regularly.
• Train branch staff on best practices for loan recovery and foreclosure.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of micro‑finance operations, loan granting rules and relevant regulations.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow documented escalation processes.
• Willingness to work in the field and travel to branch locations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Field Collections Tool for tracking recovery status.
