Head Risk and Compliance

About the role

Eversend moves money across markets, currencies and financial systems. As Head of Risk & Compliance you will design, build and run the risk framework that keeps the business within its regulatory obligations and risk appetite while supporting product innovation. This hands‑on role combines policy setting with day‑to‑day execution of onboarding, monitoring, investigations and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the enterprise risk framework, including risk appetite, risk register and control reporting to senior management and the Board.
• Oversee regulatory compliance by managing obligations inventory, interpreting regulatory changes and translating them into operating controls.
• Lead end‑to‑end financial‑crime controls: AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, investigations and SAR filing.
• Assess product, partner and market risk before launch and ensure mitigations are implemented.
• Run compliance monitoring, control testing, incident response and regulator engagement, leveraging data and automation to improve effectiveness.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience operating risk or compliance in a bank, payments company or other regulated financial institution.
• Direct experience with financial‑crime controls such as KYC, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring and regulatory reporting.
• Proven ability to build an enterprise risk framework and translate regulatory requirements into practical controls.
• Independent judgment to challenge senior decisions under commercial pressure.
• Automation‑first mindset, using data and engineering support to replace weak manual processes.
