About the role
The SBCC, Gender and Protection Officer will support the WFP Integrated Program in Rwamwanja, providing technical assistance to embed gender, protection and disability considerations across all activities. The role combines operational research, capacity building and communication for development to enhance community resilience.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement evidence‑based SBCC strategies in partnership with livelihood, health and gender units.
- Conduct operational research and qualitative surveys to generate data for gender, protection and disability interventions.
- Lead capacity‑building workshops for project staff, community health workers, volunteers and local leaders on SBCC, gender equality and child protection.
- Develop and adapt communication materials, ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities.
- Provide technical mentorship to protection and gender assistants and co‑partner staff.
- Coordinate with zonal and sectoral working groups, represent the project in coordination meetings and share best practices in regional networks.
- Monitor and report on programme performance, preparing donor reports and documenting success stories.
Required profile
- Minimum three years of experience facilitating community‑based development projects, preferably in humanitarian settings.
- University degree in Nutrition, Communications, Public Health, Social Sciences, Social Work, Human Rights or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of livelihoods, health, education and behaviour‑change communication.
- Experience designing and delivering gender, protection and disability‑inclusive interventions.
- Ability to work with beneficiaries, government officials and district‑level stakeholders.
- Prior experience collaborating with international NGOs and local partners.
