Senior Digital Content Producer

About the role

The BBC is looking for a Senior Digital Content Producer to lead video‑first journalism for its East Africa audience. Based in Kampala, you will create, film, edit and present compelling stories that engage digitally native viewers on mobile and social platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Identify under‑reported stories, emerging trends and fresh angles for video journalism.
• Film, edit and produce high‑quality digital video content for multiple platforms.
• Support coverage of major news events while remaining agile to breaking developments.
• Maintain editorial independence, making decisions on story direction with minimal supervision.
• Capture multiple formats and shot variations to maximise reuse across platforms.
• Experiment with new video styles, storytelling approaches and audience‑engagement techniques.

Required profile

• Proven experience in digital‑first video journalism or content production.
• Strong editorial judgment and ability to work in fast‑moving news environments.
• Comfort operating in sensitive or high‑risk settings.
• Excellent storytelling instincts and a passion for reaching younger audiences.
